Vote for Bernie Sanders on primary election day March 1

I proudly plan to vote for Bernie Sanders for president in next week’s primary on Tuesday, March 1st. He is the one candidate who refuses to play the billionaire game to buy the election.

To the Editor:

Voter turnout on Super Tuesday is so vitally important for the survival of this country. Even vital doesn’t quite do it: this is a time of razor sharp importance, friends. Trump’s loud trumpet gathers many voters who have not voted in decades as well as voters for all levels of society. On the democratic side we cannot afford to be slackers. This race is on and it is very real.

As a senior, and female I lived through the women’s rights movement – my mother wrote for Ms. Magazine and was a well-respected advertising copywriter in the 1950’s – 1960’s. I grew up watching my mother build a successful career. Of course, I would love to see a woman president in my lifetime. But voting for the right candidate is much more than a gender question for me and even more importantly it is the choice to vote for the candidate who has the record, the experience and a tangible plan going forward that supports all of the people of this country, one whose persona illuminates true authenticity, one who relies on the financial support of the people, one donation at a time, rather than from Super PACs, Corporations and Big Banks.

It is very interesting that there are two outsiders in this race who are at opposite ends of a spectrum. Light on the left, darkness on our right; love on the left, fear on the right. That is how I see it. Most big changes and upheavals come out of such contrasts and I believe that at this time the light will prevail in spite of our present situation which seems to be feeding itself only on turmoil, deception, fear, and greed to name but a few characteristics on my list.

I proudly plan to vote for Bernie Sanders for president in next week’s primary on Tuesday, March 1st. He is the one candidate who refuses to play the billionaire game to buy the election. This man speaks the truth boldly; he has stayed firm in his convictions throughout his long political career with respect to the issues surrounding healthcare, wealth inequality, education, climate change, women’s rights, gay rights to name only some of our areas of concern. His intelligence, wisdom and honesty is a magnet for young voters, first time voters and for so many others like myself, who believe that the time is ripe in this country to turn the tide and restore it to the principles it originally stood for: a country for and by the people. Perhaps it is 1776 all over again with Bernie Sanders. It is my belief that a Sanders Presidency will bring the real deal that is truly America back in to all of our hearts.

Please be the voice of The People, do your part and vote on March 1st.

Note: There is a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) event Friday February 26 – Tuesday, March 1st in Pittsfield at the temporary Bernie Sanders campaign office, Shire City Sanctuary, 40 Melville Street. Volunteers for canvassing, phone banking and general administration duties in 3 hour shifts are welcome to RSVP at: www.berniesanders.com/events or call Western Massachusetts Field Organizer at: 413-801-2820 for information.
