Edith Meininger (nee Goldfarb), 100, of Austerlitz, N.Y.

In keeping with Edith’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A private burial service for family will be held at Chatham Rural Cemetery.

Edith Meininger (nee Goldfarb) passed away peacefully at the age of 100 at Geer Village in Canaan, Conn.

Edith grew up in the Bronx, N.Y., where her mother Helen’s family moved in the early 1900s to escape the Russian pogroms.

Edith was predeceased by Henry, her husband of 66 years, whom she met on a ski trip. She practiced psychology in New York City for many years before relocating to Austerlitz, N.Y. She experienced great joy in her many friendships, especially with members of her beloved book club.

She is survived by her daughter Claudia; her son-in-law Joe; her grandchildren, Hannah and Eli; her step-granddaughter Suzanne and her wife Allison; and her great-granddaughter Arlo.

In keeping with Edith’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A private burial service for family will be held at Chatham Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to The Chatham Synagogue or the Democratic National Committee, in care of Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. A funeral mass will be held for Kathryn at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Corpus Christi Church, on Main Street in Housatonic on Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m., before her body will be laid to rest in Saint Bridget's Cemetery on Van Deusenville Road in Housatonic. Family will receive friends on Tuesday March 26, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home.
