Christensen best candidate for Great Barrington Selectboard

In his letter to the editor, Thomas Blauvelt states: "Karen [Christensen] respects people with different points of view and seeks to build consensus around issues. She fosters teamwork and welcomes everyone to participate in the process."

To the Editor:

The upcoming election sees three candidates running for two vacancies for a seat on the Great Barrington Selectboard. Each candidate possesses unique skills and life experiences that they would bring to the position. Also, each candidate believes they are the best person to help lead Great Barrington for the next three years as we confront the many challenges facing our community.

However, in my opinion one candidate stands above the rest and deserves our support on election day. And that candidate is Karen Christensen. Karen successfully built and operates a publishing business. She is sensitive to the economic pressures that confront Great Barrington and will find fiscally smart solutions to these issues. Karen courageously challenged the traditional thinking of the school committee with regards to the high school project and has consistently advocated for a more equitable approach to funding our schools. She respects people with different points of view and seeks to build consensus around issues. Karen fosters teamwork and welcomes everyone to participate in the process.

I urge all voters to support Karen in the upcoming election and vote her onto the Selectboard. I firmly believe she will bring enthusiasm and a spirit of openness and responsiveness back to local government. Please remember to vote for Karen on May 12.
